Easy Malva Pudding

This classic recipe is the ultimate warm, comforting dessert and is perfect served with custard or cream

Ingredients

Pudding
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 4 teaspoons vinegar
  • 3 teaspoons apricot jam
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup milk
Sauce
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 75g butter

Directions

  1. Whisk together egg and sugar.
  2. Add in baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, vinegar, apricot jam, flour and milk.
  3. Whisk together and bake on 180°C/350°F for 40 minutes.
  4. In the meantime, make the sauce. Boil milk, water, sugar and butter.
  5. Pour hot syrup over the hot cake as soon as it comes out of the oven.
  6. Serve with cream or custard.
